LeBron James made his preseason debut for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Brooklyn Nets, finishing with 10 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes of play.

Philadelphia lost the game 114 to 108, but the result mattered less than the first sight of James in a 76ers uniform. He was perfect from the free throw line, making all 8 of his attempts.

James started alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe, giving home fans an early look at the lineup the team hopes will carry it this season. He sat out the second half, a normal step for a veteran in preseason.

Even in limited minutes, his influence was clear. James handled the ball, set up teammates and kept the offence organised while the new group learned to play together.

For Philadelphia, the bigger question is fit over a full season. Embiid’s health, Maxey’s scoring and James’s playmaking have to blend, and preseason games are the first test of that chemistry.

Brooklyn, meanwhile, took the win and valuable minutes for its own rotation. Preseason results rarely predict the regular season, but coaches value the chance to test lineups without pressure.

Fans should read the debut for what it was: a short, careful first run. James looked comfortable, moved well and did not need to chase points to affect the game.

The 76ers will expect more as the season nears. If James, Embiid and Maxey stay healthy and settle quickly, Philadelphia’s ceiling rises fast. The debut offered a small but encouraging first chapter.
