The Bollywood comedy “Udta Teer,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, released in cinemas on October 9, 2026, according to reports, bringing the popular pair back to the big screen together.

The film is backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, two banners with strong track records in mainstream Hindi cinema. It marks the directorial debut of writer Akash A Kaushik, who steps behind the camera for the first time with this comedy. According to reports, the producers on the film include Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain — a producing line-up that underlines the scale of backing behind the release.

For its lead pair, “Udta Teer” is a reunion. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan are appearing together on the big screen for the second time, after their earlier collaboration “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.” Their pairing is central to the film’s appeal, and the comedy framing gives both actors material in the genre that has delivered some of their most popular work.

Khurrana has built much of his stardom on comedies with a distinctive flavour, while Sara Ali Khan has also leaned into the genre in her recent filmography. Putting the two together again, this time under a first-time director working from his own writing background, gives the project a combination of established star chemistry and a fresh voice that the makers will be hoping translates into audience word of mouth.

The release adds a prominent Hindi comedy to the current cinema calendar. According to reports, the film opened on October 9, 2026, and its performance over the opening weekend will be closely watched, as will audience response to the Ayushmann–Sara pairing in their second outing together. The involvement of both Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, and a producer roster led by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor among others, positions the film as a notable mainstream release rather than a small-scale experiment.

Early trade attention will focus on opening-day footfall and the all-important weekend trajectory that determines most theatrical outcomes. With a recognised star pair, an established production pedigree and a comedy premise, “Udta Teer” enters cinemas with the ingredients of a crowd-facing entertainer; whether it converts them into a sustained run is now in the hands of the audience.
